The Chamber of Engineering Technology has members who serve on the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) Finance (Internal) committee. This committee monitors ECSA’s finances, the overall well-being of ECSA and persons registered with ECSA. The Chamber (and ECSA) are not able to offer any loans or bursaries at this time. Your local University of Technology or University should be approached in this regard as they normally have a list of possible sources of loans, bursaries and employers.

Courses

The Chamber of Engineering Technology has members who serve on the Engineering Council Of South Africa (ECSA) Education Advisory and Technikon accreditation committees. It thus has direct influence on the standards and acceptance of engineering courses at Technikons. The Chamber (and ECSA) do not offer any courses direct to students. The Chamber, from time to time, does however recommend and approve of short courses of acceptable standards offered by certain bodies as supplementary to or as part of  on-going education and ECSA's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme.

The Chamber does not recommend that students enrol for any engineering courses other than those presented by South African Universities of Technology and Universities, duly accredited as acceptable by the Engineering Council of South Africa. Under certain circumstances, some engineering courses presented by others may also be recommended. Courses from other bodies may not be of an acceptable standard for registration as a professional engineering person with the Engineering Council of South Africa. This also applies to CPD.
