Chamber of Engineering Technology  Membership Rules;

 1.         If members have complaints against fellow COET members and they have prima facie evidence to support their complaint they must lodge the complaint in the prescribed manner to COET.

2.         If members have complaints against Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) registered persons and they have sufficient prima facie evidence to support their complaint they must lodge the complaint in the prescribed manner with ECSA. If the complaint involves another COET member then they must copy COET with the details and letters to ECSA.

3.         If a member has a complaint against a Company and / or a Lifting Machinery Entity (LME) and they have prima facie evidence to support their claim, they must lodge their complaint, complete with an affidavit, to the Department of Labour, Head Office. If their complaint is against a COET / LEEASA company & / or LME member they must copy COET with the details and letters submitted to the Department of Labour.

4.         No member may make any public statement, of any sort whatsoever on behalf of the Chamber, without obtaining COET Executive Committee’s prior written approval of the nature and wording thereof. This includes press releases and interviews.

5.         No member may claim to be inspecting any premises, business or equipment on behalf of COET, LEEASA, ECSA or the Department of Labour or any Government or Municipal Department without prior written approval from the specific organisation.

6.         No member shall accompany or assist any individual, from COET, ECSA, and / or the Department of Labour or any Government or Municipal Department in any inspection, investigation or audit without prior written approval from the specific organisation.

7.         It is recommended that any request for a COET member to assist in any inspection, investigation or audit from anyone whomsoever, including the Department of Labour, any Government or Municipal Department be reduced to writing and that the “inspector” is adequately covered with public liability and contractor’s all risk insurance. Neither the association nor any of its office bearers accepts responsibility or liability for the action of the individual so contracted.
